How can I start describing such a pair of unique souls. As recently as this year's Life begins At 40 [golf tournament], an older member commented on some of the people he missed, and asked what happened to that short "lefty" who always cleaned his clock. I said that had to be Lloyd Brotzman. Yes sir, that was him, and what a competitor he was. He never gave up and sure fought hard for a piece of glass. He cleaned my clock every time!
That was my buddy all right, he never gave up. Also in life he lived it the same. Right was right, and that was that. He and I would fight it out like there was no tomorrow on the golf course. It was hard to watch him slip a little as his hands and legs failed. I've had some problems, and didn't play much last year, but after that fellow reminded me of Lloyd, I sorta rallied and won my flight, thanks to my friend.
As to Sis, well she was the perfect wife. Lloyd could do no wrong, and God help you if you criticized him in front of her. After he passed, just mention him and she was in tears. Believe me they were truly soul mates. How in the world can you not just love the daylights out of people like that. When Jesus decides to bring Sis home I know that He will have a good tennis court ready as well as a golf course or two.
This has been really hard to write through my tears. I guess at 81 we tend to get even more sentimental when talking about the best of the best.
Love,
Ned Cooley
